Gary attended Warwick University and studied accounting and financial analysis, progressing on to study for a professional qualification with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).
Upon achieving his qualification, Gary worked in a number of finance leadership roles within fast paced multi-site retail and hospitality businesses and FTSE listed organisations. Relocating to Suffolk in 2010, Gary joined a national brewing company before leaving in the summer of 2016 and joining Servest.
SERVEST JOURNEY SO FAR
“I was genuinely delighted to see that everything I was told about the Servest culture throughout the interview process was true. People are friendly, positive and willing to help and despite there being separate divisions and departments, it is a business with aligned goals that shares in its successes.”
Gary has enjoyed bringing together the Bury St. Edmunds finance team into one office and sees this as a positive step to improve the team dynamic. He has also introduced a more structured study package that will support the development of future finance leaders. Gary recognises that the FM industry is fast paced and ever evolving but that is something he is familiar with and thrives on.
LOOKING TO THE FUTURE
Gary is passionate about supporting every team member with their career goals, whether that’s being the best bookkeeper they can be, or aiming to become the next chief financial officer. With this in mind, Gary’s ambition is to develop the team so more internal candidates are applying for senior roles.
“There are exciting times ahead for Servest and I want finance to be at the forefront of supporting the company’s growth plans.” – Gary
