Kerry Smith – Resourcing Partner

Before Servest

Kerry took on her first recruitment role as an administrator in 2003, where she learned all the basics for what would become a progressive career. Honing her skills over the years, Kerry worked within the further education sector for almost a decade. In this role, Kerry recruited for a variety of roles, from support staff to senior lecturers, all of which helped to build her resourcing knowledge and consultative abilities. Prior to Servest, Kerry was exposed to a new challenge in the financial services sector, where she recruited for individual specialist insurance roles and mass call centre opportunities.

Servest Journey So Far

Having enjoyed the change of industry, Kerry was keen to explore what else there was available, so in the spring of 2016 when she was approached by Servest, Kerry was more than happy to see what the company could offer her. Won over by the scope for development and by the enthusiasm of Servest colleagues, Kerry took on the role of Resourcing Partner and has never looked back.

In her first few months, Kerry came to understand the Servest culture, finding that the enthusiasm and passion that came across in her interview was company-wide. Working quickly to implement new processes and procedures, Kerry found that Servest was open to new ideas and used it as an opportunity to show the value of an internal resourcing team.

With the support of the team, Kerry has successfully implemented structures, making the internal recruitment process user-friendly and effective. More recently Kerry has been working to make the team more proactive, taking on a more consultative role and has enjoyed particular success in consulting with stakeholders to design and lead a number of successful assessment centres. There has been a cultural shift in the way Servest recruits, with many more roles being filled as a result of the efforts of the internal resource instead of external resource. This increased demand has led to the team’s growth and as a result, Kerry has recently taken on the responsibility of a direct report.

Looking To The Future

Kerry is keen to build on the team’s success and is looking to develop the consultative side of the services they offer. On a personal level, Kerry seeks to progress onto the recruitment of more senior level roles, such as board level positions. Having aspirations to grow her career, Kerry is eager to make the most of Servest’s development opportunities and would like to work through the ILM training courses on offer.
