The Royal Free is one of the key hospitals in London leading the fight against COVID-19. This pandemic has presented unforeseen logistical pressures on the Hospital in order to maintain its provision of medical staff. The Hospital needed additional security resource and expertise in order to manage these challenges. They contacted Atalian Servest for emergency support. Given the critical need for a fully safe and functioning Hospital, Atalian Servest were approached to fulfil the additional security posts required to protect its COVID-19 ward. We were also given very little time to mobilise.
Upon hearing first-hand, of the potential impact on front line care, we took the decision to over-deliver our labour resource on the first day. This was fulfilled by our specialist security officers from surrounding areas, whose skills matched the very specialist needs of a hospital during a pandemic crisis.
The Royal Free Hospital were very impressed with the standard and output of our Officers, the efficiency and speed with which we mobilised and our ability to increase staffing levels within the first few days to meet their demand.
By the end of the first working week, our officers were conducting all the access control measures to the main hospital and its overflow infrastructure. We also deployed a specialist mobile CCTV unit, linking onsite activity to our 24/7 Communications Centre to ensure the hospital staff, patients and visitors were secure and safe.
Our staff have been praised by senior clinicians for their diligence in dealing with the pubic and courteousness in greeting staff by name. Dave Reavy, the Head of Security, remarked that this was the first time Security had been praised to this level for many years.
