After graduating from Enugu State University, Nigeria in 2005 with a degree in Chemical Engineering, Ony took on his first project management role in the utilities sector. Using the experience he gained in this position, Ony went on to work as a Business Change Implementation Project Manager for a number of well-known organisations.
Keen to build on his practical knowledge, Ony enrolled at Aston University where, in 2012, he completed a Master’s degree in Engineering Project Management, as part of which he received PRINCE 2 certification.
Servest Journey so Far
In February 2014, Ony joined Servest as an Area Manager for a key retail client. Ony was looking to join a forward thinking organisation and Servest’s vision to become a one stop solution for client’s needs measured up. Servest did not disappoint, with Ony finding it a great place to work, having the freedom to manage his own time and the autonomy to take ownership of key output agreements. Whilst in this position, supported by Servest, Ony achieved Chartered Manager status from the Chartered Management Institute.
Within sixteen months Ony’s hard work was recognised and he was promoted to the position of Regional Manager for the same high profile client. The support from the Servest team meant Ony was equipped with the skills needed to effectively manage client expectations and to ensure his team delivered on set KPIs. It was in this role that Ony was given the opportunity to enrol on Servest’s in-house ILM accredited Explorer learning and career development programme. Ony successfully completed the programme and found that, as well as arming him with new business management skills, the course provided him with the opportunity to interact and collaborate with colleagues from many areas of the company.
In May 2017, following his success as a regional manager, Ony was approached by the Group Head of Commercial to take on the exciting opportunity of Group Property Manager. The proposition of being involved in exciting company-wide projects was something Ony couldn’t pass up and his past project management experience made it an obvious progressive step.
Looking to the Future
Servest has already proved to be full of career potential for Ony and with the company’s plans for the future, there is a rich possibility of further progression and development. Wanting to develop himself in his current role, Ony is keen to become RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) accredited to support his many property related projects.
“As the business grows, I’m looking to grow with it and continue to contribute to its success.” – Ony
