There is a focus in Facilities Management regarding the financial and tangible benefits of ‘promoting from within’. But, how do we ensure the diversity evident in entry-level roles within our industry is carried through and developed into senior leadership positions?

To help promote race and equality along with the wider FM industry, we are committed to taking a proactive approach in the development and support of BAME workers for senior roles. We are proud to have already signed the Race at Work Charter, committing us to five actions that ensure greater progress and positive outcomes for our ethnic minority colleagues. However, we know we can still do more.

One of the greatest assets of Atalian Servest is our diverse workforce, we can learn from each other when we truly embrace our differences. We want to create an environment where varying religions and cultural identities are celebrated, and informed conversations are encouraged to aid our understanding of what makes us all different. Our colleagues belong to a wealth of religions and hold various beliefs, and we believe we have a duty to recognise and support this.

In many ways, this blueprint is the backbone of a wider promise of embedded excellence, a commitment to an open-mindedness that connects the frontline to the boardroom and all points in-between. New voices, new approaches and new solutions.

If you don’t want to take on the responsibility of a committee role but would love to share your passion, ideas and experiences you can join as a member of a network – to influence the committee.

 

Each network will decide how they would like to promote and drive their D&I topic throughout the year. This could be through attending events such as Pride, joining professional networks such as LGBTinFM, sharing personal stories with the business on mental health, ethnic origin or disability, or creating a reverse mentoring programme. As a network, the aims and objectives that you’d like to achieve will be set and driven by you.

Committee Member

As committee members, you will make decisions as a collective group and hold joint responsibility for decisions and actions taken by the network. You will be responsible for ensuring that all decisions are taken in the best interests of the network and that their role is carried out effectively. Individual members should demonstrate our values; Entrepreneurial Spirit, Agility, Integrity, Sustainable Development and Simplicity.
